Sending money to Biliran via Western Union., by Biliran on Nov 12, 2013 4:28:29 GMT 8, I'm sure we all know that many of our Friends and Family in Biliran Province live pretty much day to day, so not having work or maybe the rice crop being destroyed will become a big problem for them being able to afford to buy water and food. I think the ATM's in Naval and the Western Union service both rely on the mobile phone network.
If you hear news of ATM's in Naval working or Western Union payment being received in Biliran Province, please post here.

Sending money to Biliran via Western Union., by Biliran on Nov 13, 2013 13:34:00 GMT 8, NEWS - From Jun Del Rosario Due to no power and communication line in Naval and whole Province of Biliran, banks are closed so other other fund transfer outlets like Western Union, etc. From what I saw on my way to Ormoc, Biliran Province is a lot better. No power and communication yet. Food supplies are available but limited. Damage is severe but not as Ormoc, Tacloban and many parts of Samar as reported in TV. FYI: The road from Naval to Ormoc is passable. There is smart and globe signal with internet connection in Ormoc City proper. No power yet. Some establishments are using generator like where I am now in Pongos Hotel lobby.

Sending money to Biliran via Western Union., by German on Nov 21, 2013 8:53:43 GMT 8, Hello, has anybody an opinion if it is feasible to send money via BDO's door-to-door delivery service to Culaba/Biliran? (I did not use this service before.) Or is it more advicable to try Western Union?
My gf sent money already a week ago using Smart Padala, but as far as I know it wasn't delivered yet due to no Smart signal and power outage. :-(

Sending money to Biliran via Western Union., by carlton on Nov 21, 2013 12:49:48 GMT 8, I'm not familiar with the Smart service but in Naval there is reportedly only a limited banking service for Landbank Naval branch account holders. I read Smart would have cell phone service in Biliran restored by now but that does not appear to be the case for much of the island.
Western Union have been operating again in Ormoc, but many people have been going to Cebu for their remittances and topping up supplies while there. Otherwise my opinion would be that your BDO option won't be possible just yet. BDO should have an e-mail support link or customer service hotline details on their website so try there and see if you get a response.

Sending money to Biliran via Western Union., by German on Nov 26, 2013 7:00:26 GMT 8, My gf inquired at LBC and they said their Naval branch is open again. We'll try LBC today and see if and how it works.
I inquired at BDO by e-mail (form) but haven't got a reply after 2 days...

Sending money to Biliran via Western Union., by German on Nov 29, 2013 7:55:31 GMT 8, We sent money through LBC but not with door-to-door service (to Culaba) because it would cost some days delay, but with pick-up in Naval and it worked without a problem. Also an amount sent with Smart Padala was received (I guess also in Naval instead of Culaba). The money was anyway spent in Naval because the food prices in Culaba are just too high.
I got an answer from BDO in the meantime, they've "verified that Biliran (sub-province) is not part of our serviceable areas for door-to-door remittance". Aha, thanks.
