MANILA, Philippines -- Separate earthquakes were recorded in Naval, Biliran Island and in General Santos City Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The first earthquake registered at magnitude 4.3 with its epicenter located six kilometers southwest of Naval, Biliran Island at 6:29 a.m. The quake had a shallow depth of 18 kilometers and was tectonic in origin. Intensity 4 was felt in Naval, while Intensity 3 was felt in Leyte, Leyte. Intensity 2 was felt in Capoocan, Leyte and in Jaro, Leyte.
The second earthquake occurred at 9:03 a.m. with its epicenter located 227 kilometers southeast of General Santos City. It registered a magnitude 4 and was also tectonic in origin. Intensity 2 was felt in General Santos City.
There were no reported injuries or damages in both quakes, Phivolcs said.
