On many old maps Higatangan appears as Gigatangan.

1734 Map showing Biliran Island then named as Panamao, and Biliran Town marked showing the Island deformed from what we now know as its true shape. But you can still see Dalutan and Capinahan Islands along the west coast, and of course (Gigatangan) Higatangan and Maripipi.

Looking at the whole of this historic 1734 Map of the Philippines its actually amazing how accurate it is, its only the close up details that are slightly wrong with Island shapes and town locations.
